IELTS Life Skills A1 – Entry Requirements
Purpose: IELTS Life Skills A1 is a UKVI-approved Secure English Language Test (SELT) designed for people who need to prove their English speaking and listening skills at the CEFR A1 level for specific UK visa types.(SELTs). The requirements depend on the level of study or visa type:
Who Needs IELTS Life Skills A1?
- Spouse/Partner visa applicants (joining a family member in the UK).
- Parent visa applicants.
- Other family route visas requiring A1 level.
Test Requirements:
- Level tested: CEFR A1 (beginner).
- Skills tested: Speaking & Listening only (no Reading/Writing).
- Passing requirement: You only need to achieve A1 level or above — no numeric score
or band is given. - Duration: About 16–18 minutes (with one examiner and another test taker).
Validity
Test results are valid for 2 years.
